Letter from the administrator – 2020

Precious singing school family,

What a joy HPSS has been over the years. Each year is a time of singing, fellowship, and seeing lifelong friends. We are aware that the circumstances of COVID-19 may end up changing our plans, but praying that it will be safe to meet, we will gather Sunday evening July the 19th and finish Friday evening July 24th. Our theme this summer will be “2020 Vision”, our song will be “Be Thou My Vision” (#139 in the PBH), and our text is Habakkuk 2:2-4:

And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

By definition a vision is the direct, specific communication from God to his people through the collection of inspired messages (which in our day is scripture). Are you needing guidance, calmness, encouragement, strength, or knowledge? Are you frightened, tired, feeling sorry for yourself, needing wisdom, or knowledge of your sins forgiven? If so, you need insight, you need a vision, you need an inspired message from God, you need to live by faith (inspired truth). Here are 20 truths that will give you clear 2020 Vision.

  1. You are God’s child: I John 3:1
  2. You are made righteous before God: Romans 5:19, II Corinthians 5:21
  3. You are at peace with God through the blood of Christ’s cross: Colossians 1:20
  4. You are not condemned: Romans 8:1, John 3:18
  5. You are reconciled to God: Romans 5:10
  6. You are holy and without blame before God: Ephesians 1:4
  7. You are justified: Romans 3:24
  8. You have forgiveness of your sins: Colossians 1:14
  9. You are loved with an everlasting love: Jeremiah 31:3
  10. You have been quickened with Christ and saved by grace: Ephesians 2:5
  11. You are a new creature in Christ: II Corinthians 5:17
  12. You have a God who will give you wisdom liberally: James 1:5
  13. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you: Philippians 4:13
  14. You will be supplied with all your needs according to his riches in Christ: Philippians 4:19
  15. You have not been given the spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind: II Timothy 1:7
  16. You have a High Priest who when you pray will give you mercy and grace to help in need: Hebrews 4:15-16
  17. You have a good work begun in you that will be performed until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:6
  18. You are more than a conqueror and will never be separated from the love of God in Christ: Romans 8:38-39
  19. You have a Savior making intercession for you at His Father’s right hand: Romans 8:34
  20. You will be raised incorruptible in the twinkling of an eye at the last trump: I Corinthians:15:52

We all eventually learn that nothing in life turns out exactly the way we imagined. Job, health, dog, church, spouse, children, self, are all different than we anticipated. So, what happened to life as we planned? It departed when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit. God has given us, though, his word to keep the right view of how to live now and what awaits us in heaven. Here is some more insight:

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (II Corinthians 4:17)

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (I Corinthians 10:13)

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. (Romans 8:18)

I hope to see you in July; either way, keep the vision.

Love,

Brother Dickie
